Many people find themselves struggling to live a purposeful and fulfilling life. The question arises, “There has to be ‘more’ than waking up, going to work, going to sleep and starting over again the next day?”. We expect there to be a very ‘good’ reason why we were born, and there is! We have come to this life to ‘remember’ who we are and to ‘create’ the experience we always wanted. This is a journey of self-discovery and actualization, one step at a time.
1. Examine Your Beliefs
There is an Intelligence that permeates throughout the Universe. This intelligence created the planets, trees, animals and humans – all living forms. Universal Intelligence exists within, the spark of life; creation energy prevails within all of us. Begin by examining limiting beliefs about your understanding of who you are and the life you wish to live. Our beliefs come from life experiences and what we learned along the way from our families, school and society. If those assumptions no longer align with what you wish to create for yourself, then it’s time to begin the healing, releasing and transmuting process in your life.
2. Dream Big!
What would it look like if you could do anything you wanted with your life? Allow your mind to daydream, just as you did when you were a child. Play in the infinite space of your mind. Now, amplify what comes to you, dream Big! What did you enjoy doing when you were young? What did you say you wanted to be when you grew up? What do you enjoying doing now in your life? What do you want to learn? Your vision will become clear through self-inquiry.
3. Make A Decision
This may sound simple enough, but for many taking the first step is challenging and sometimes filled with fear and uncertainty. Making a decision requires us to trust and be vulnerable; this is not a simple task, mainly if you have lived by others expectations of you. The anxiety that arises comes from not wanting to make a mistake. Make liars out of fear and decide on taking the first step towards what you have always wanted for yourself.
4. Take Action
Merge your heart and mind, feel what you see. The journey of finding your life purpose asks you to take your vision and make it part of your life experience. This step requires Action. There may be many steps before what you want becomes a reality, but do not let this stop you. As with everything in life, it’s one stepping-stone at a time. Infuse the energy of child-like excitement and watch the dream take off. Keep in mind, it’s not just about attaining the ‘goal,’ but it’s what you discover about yourself in the process.
5. “Mistakes” Lead to Clarity
Recognizing when something didn’t work out is a tremendous gift along the path of living your life purpose. When things don’t go as planned, it is an opportunity to stand back and ask, “What am I to learn?” “What was my part in creating this outcome?” These moments illuminate what is misaligned, giving us a choice to make the necessary adjustments.
There is no wrong place to begin, jump in, discover and play. You will know when you are on the right path when what you are doing feels right, not compromising or betraying who you are. Forget your expectations and instead set your intentions. Be an active agent in the fulfillment of your dreams and desires. Move into the infinite space that exists outside the box. Make meaningful and purposeful contributions for yourself and others.
