It was in 2001 I chose to make many changes in my life; I left my corporate job, went to school full-time and became self-employed.
I was blessed to have many supportive people in my life, they encouraged the many life changes I was making. I felt that it was ‘now or never’; it was time to start living the life I always dreamed about. It was during this time of awakening I found my own direct connection to the Creator, which inevitably led me to have a more intimate connection to myself.
Every aspect of my life was changing! Even though the choices I made brought many positive life encounters, they did also brought up old unresolved emotions. These unsettled emotions resulted in increased anxiety, rippling through different areas of my life. It was at this time, I experienced my first Reiki session at a bed and breakfast with a woman named Janice. During the Reiki session, my body vibrated intensely. I saw myself leave my body, I cried and laughed, felt power energy moving through my whole body and ‘saw’ the most incredible lights and colours. Towards the end of the session, I was given the message I was to give the experience of Reiki to others. Needless to say, it was a profoundly exceptional event that shifted my life forever.
Shortly after my personal session I completed my Reiki Level I training. In a relatively short period the blocks and anxieties began to dissolve and were replaced with a deep calm and clarity; a profound connection to God and my higher pure energy self. As a result of the tremendous benefits that emerged, I was extremely excited to start sharing this life-transforming energy with as many people as I could.
I began giving myself Reiki every day and was practicing on family and friends. I loved sharing Reiki with loved ones but I really wanted to have the experience of giving a session to a complete stranger. I then created my first Reiki website and very slowly clients started to come. Back in the early 2000’s Reiki was not well known and getting the message out was challenging. Determined to seek more practice, I was fortunate to find Wellsprings, a cancer support organization. I had the privilege of volunteering one day a week at the Wellspring Westerkirk House at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. It was during my two years of working with cancer patients I experienced firsthand the tremendous healing power of Reiki energy. I’m forever grateful for what I learned. This very special involvement taught me something I don’t believe I could have learned any other way – listen to the body, connect to your heart, our answers are within.
By connecting with the healing energy of Love and Light, the body is given the space to bring forth what it needs for us to be aware of on a mental, emotional, physical and spiritual level.
During my time at Wellspring, I continued with my Reiki training and once I completed my Level II I was addicted! The idea of working with healing symbols and connecting with a person that was not in my physical presence was something I had been interested in since I was a very young girl. Learning and allowing myself not to be bound by space and time is one of my life’s greatest joys!
I remember one of my first long-distance Reiki clients, it was a woman from Japan. I was thrilled to have her contact me since Reiki originated in Japan, I was honoured she wanted to work with me. Over a period of a month I performed three long-distance sessions on her. Her intention was to release the physical and emotional pain of fibromyalgia. Without the constraints of physical time and space, it was pure energy-to-energy connection and the results were absolutely amazing!
After practicing for about a year I was very motivated to share and teach others everything I was learning. I then went on to complete my Reiki Master/Teacher level. I clearly remember teaching my first Reiki Level I class, not only because I initiated my twin sister Sandra, but because I must have read through my teaching notes a least a couple of dozen times. I was so nervous. I wanted to ensure I did not miss a thing. I was a professional software trainer for a large financial institution for about 9 years, but this time I was about to teach something that would deeply transform people’s lives.
One of the countless benefits of practicing Reiki is the enhancement to your intuitive and psychic abilities. I became very aware of my heighten level of perception and once this started happening it opened me up to exploring other modalities. Over the years, I have read hundreds of books on personal and spiritual development. I have taken courses in Reconnective Healing, Akashic Record, Deep Trance Meditation, Hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique -EFT, Theta Healing, Abuse Counselling, Past Life Regression, Chakra Balancing and Angel Reading. These are services I offer today not only because of my personal interest in them, but because these modalities allow me to meet the needs of my clients.
I can’t believe that it’s been about 13 years since I first started my practice. When I started I met with clients at my home and then in about 2006 I moved into my first office. I was there for a year and then moved to my current location. During this time, I have had the honour of working with thousands of people from all around, sharing the gift of Love and Light. I look forward to many more years to be of service to others.
